Brenda Stokes

Brenda Fay Stokes, 73, of Birchwood, Tennessee passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2024. Brenda was born on October 22, 1950, in Chattanooga, Tennessee to the late Arnold and Dorothy Sims. In her spare time Brenda enjoyed listening to gospel music, going to church, crocheting, visiting family and friends, and spending time with her wonderful husband. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald Ray "Whitie" Stokes; brother, Hurbert "Bullet" Sims; sister in laws, Marilyn Sims, and Maggie Sims; and her niece, Christina "Cricket" Sims. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband, Larry Kenneth Fortner; daughter, Glenda Kay Stokes; granddaughter, Jennifer K. (Tyler) Davis; her great grandson, Aiden Davis; her children by marriage, Denise Spence, and Kenny E. Fortner; grandchildren, Harley Denise Ross, and Lauren Danielle Ross; and her brothers, Arnold "Tweetie" (Shellie) Sims III, and Steve Sims; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. The family will be receiving friends on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at Companion Funeral Home of Cleveland from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm. The family will be receiving friends again on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at Companion Funeral Home of Cleveland from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm. A celebration of life service is to follow at 1:00 pm with Pastor Dewayne Murphy officiating. A graveside service will follow at McClanahan Cemetery.
