Bonnie Lou Hookstra

Bonnie Dunn Hookstra peacefully passed away at home Saturday June 13, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her loving husband, Stephen B. Hookstra of Ellijay, GA; sister Rebecca (Leonard) Dunn Zucco, New Kensington,PA; Sister-in-Law Eleanor Smith Dunn, Youngsville,PA; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Born May 17, 1941 in Altoona, PA, she is preceded in death by her parents, Robert F. and Jean Anderson Dunn of Oakmont, PA and siblings David S., Lee A., Judith Dunn Rupert, James R., Martha J., and William A. Dunn.

Bonnie was a 1959 graduate of Oakmont High School in Oakmont, PA. She would continue her education at Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in Pittsburgh, PA. She would begin her lifelong career as a Registered Nurse in 1962.

She recently enjoyed her 85th birthday with gifts and reading cards, tributes, stories and memories compiled by her family. She reflected a life of service and caring as she worked as an RN in Pittsburgh, PA, Chicago, IL, Phoenix, AZ, Newport Beach, CA, and Fort Lauderdale, FL in Intensive Care and the Emergency Room. Bonnie later supervised Red Cross Blood Bank and Dialysis Centers for many years. She served as a missionary in Haiti as well.

Bonnie will be remembered with great love. A Celebration of Life and internment will be private and arranged by English Funeral Home in Oakmont, PA.

The family is very thankful and grateful to Georgia Hospice for Bonnie's care and help to the family.
