Bonnie Lou Hookstra

Bonnie Dunn Hookstra peacefully passed away at home Saturday, June 13, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

She is survived by her loving husband, Stephen B. Hookstra of Ellijay, GA; and her sisters, Laurel Dunn George (Pittsburgh, PA), Elizabeth Dunn Hays (Marietta, GA), Rebecca Dunn Zucco (Leonard Zucco, New Kensington, PA); Sister-in-Law Eleanor Smith Dunn (Youngsville, PA) and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert F. and Jean A. Dunn and siblings David S., Lee A., Judith Dunn Rupert, James R., Martha J., and William A.

Bonnie graduated from Oakmont High School in Oakmont, PA and Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in Pittsburgh, PA and became a Registered Nurse. She reflected a life of service and caring as she worked as a Cardiac and Intensive Care RN in Pittsburgh, PA, Chicago, IL, Phoenix, AZ, Newport Beach, CA, and Fort Lauderdale, FL in the Emergency Room and Intensive Care Unit. Bonnie later supervised Red Cross Blood Bank and Dialysis Centers. She served as a missionary in Haiti as well.

She recently enjoyed her 85th Birthday reading tributes, stories and memories compiled by her family. The family would like to thank the Georgia Hospice of Dalton, GA for their excellent care.

To honor Bonnie's memory the family kindly requests that donations be made to her favorite charity, Samaritan's Purse. The family will be holding a private Celebration of Life at a later date.
