Bobbie Jean (Scoggins) Fugate, 96, was born on November 3, 1929, in Harrison, Tennessee, the fifth child and only daughter of Warren and Emma (Stover) Scoggins. She was raised on a third generation family farm with a deep connection to her roots and the people around her. Bobbie peacefully departed this world on August 29, 2026.
An alumna of Tyner High School, Bobbie graduated in 1947. During her school years, she was an active participant in the drill team, Glee Club, Junior Red Cross, and was honored as a candidate for FFA Queen in 1945. Bobbie found a lifelong home at Greenwood Baptist Church, where she was the oldest member, having been in attendance for nearly 85 years since she joined in 1942. Her father was a charter member and deacon who sawed timber for a previous house of worship on the site.
Bobbie's adventurous spirit took her on many journeys, from the streets of Jerusalem to the shores of Hawaii, and even on a train trip around the United States. She was often accompanied on many tour bus trips by her long-time friend and travel companion, Betty Martin.
With her green thumb, she transformed every space she called home with trees, flowers and gardens. Her dedication to preserving her family's legacy was evident when she transplanted a variety of irises from her mother's homestead in the 1980s, which continue to thrive to this day.
Bobbie made space for the many cats she rescued over the years. Her last two beloved kitties, both in their teens, continue to be cared for by her son Timothy and daughter-in-law Pam, ensuring they have a home for their remaining years.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Amos "Ed" Fugate, her daughters Teresa Hall and Tracie Fugate, her infant son Mark, and her brothers Alvie, Albert, Benton, and Warren "Junior" Scoggins, and many relatives and friends. Her memory is cherished by her surviving son Timothy (Pam), son-in-law Joe Hall, nephew Gary Pickett, and many friends. A special thanks to her many dedicated caregivers especially Deanna.
