Billy Fred Coe, age 91, passed peacefully at his home on February 12, 2026.

Billy was born on January 19, 1935, in Cleveland, Tennessee, to the late Herbert and Anna Lee Coe. He attended Bradley Central High School, where he met the love of his life and wife of 69 years, Patsy Coe. After graduating in 1954, he began working at Brown Stove, where he faithfully served for 50 years until retirement, where he was recognized for never missing a day. During that time, he also started his own car lot, building lasting relationships with countless people who grew to know and love him. He continued serving his community through his business well into his 90s.

Raised on Blue Spring Road, Billy was a hardworking country boy who, alongside his four siblings, learned responsibility and grit by tending the family farm daily. That early work ethic and determination stayed with him throughout his life and fueled his commitment to work, family, and community.

Above all, Billy loved his family. He adored his late wife, Patsy, and in 1955 they welcomed their only daughter, Cathy, who became their world. Billy was a devoted family man who showed unwavering love to his daughter, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. He was the steady foundation they depended on. Relatable, steadfast, and confident, always making sure those he loved were cared for. Billy was strong-willed and larger than life, never meeting a stranger. With charisma, confidence, and a mischievous smile, he made people feel seen and valued. A self-proclaimed "car man," he was always ready to make a deal. Generous to his core, he helped anyone he could and was often seen with a pocket full of one's and five dollar bills to hand out to children in the community, especially his grandchildren.

One of the greatest joys of his life was coaching little league baseball and football for over 15 years. He cherished mentoring young people and guided generations of boys with firmness, consistency, and heart. His disciplined yet caring style led to many winning seasons, including regional and state championships - trophies he treasured deeply. Many former players said he was the best coach they ever had, and the lessons he taught carried far beyond the field.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Anna Lee Coe; his beloved wife, Patsy Coe; his brother, J.L. Coe; and his sisters, Flo Higgins and Peggy Holder.

He is survived by his sister, Dean Jackson; his daughter, Cathy (Barry Hayes); his grandchildren, Casey (James Fields) and Christopher (wife, Chrissy Coleman); his great grandchildren, Celsie (Isaac Melton), Brady Steward, and Addilyn Fields; his great great grandchildren, Jacob Ogle, Kaysen Melton, and Koltsten Melton; along with extended family members and dear friends.

In honor of Billy's dedication to his community and young people the family is asking that any donations would be sent to a gofundme account: https://gofund.me/d3b64b486

These donations will go to Bradley County Park & Recreations

Celebration of life service will be at Companion Funeral Home of Cleveland on Monday February 16th, 2026 at 1pm. The family will be receiving friends from 11pm-1pm. The graveside service is to follow at Hilcrest Memorial Gardens.
