Bill Wayne Houston, 79, of Cleveland, Tennessee passed away on Friday, October 17, 2025 Bill was born in Charleston, Tennessee, to the late Robert J. and Marjorie G. Houston.
After graduating high school, he attended the University of Tennessee Knoxville. He then returned to Cleveland, TN, where he opened his first shoe store. He then went to work at Schering -Plough as a production associate, and went on to complete his four year college degree in Organizational Leadership at Covenant College. He was promoted to Operations Supervisor while at Schering-Plough before retiring.
In his retirement years, he earned his contractor's license, and went on to develop several subdivisions and other home remodels. He also enjoyed working with his Tennessee Walking Horses, along with raising Black Angus cattle on his farm. He loved North Cleveland Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday School, served as deacon, and participated in multiple mission trips (domestic and international).
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert J. Houston Jr.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife, Karen C. Houston; sons, Colby W. (Laura T.) Houston, and Matthew R. (Lyuda) Houston; and her grandchildren, Tucker G. Simpson, Ella Houston, Mia Houston, and Lily Houston; along with a host of extended family and close friends.
A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025 at 7:00 pm at North Cleveland Baptist Church with Dr. Jay McCluskey and Bart Starr officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm prior to the service.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 11:00 am at Council Baptist Church Cemetery with Bryant Baines, Jeff Elliott, Patrick Key, Don Littrell, and Colby Houston serving as pallbearers.
Donations to Student Scholarship (Amber Cannon Memorial Scholarship-North Cleveland Baptist Church) or Operation Christmas Child would be greatly appreciated.
