Betty Vandergriff

Betty Ruth Vandergriff, 66, passed away at her home January 18, 2025. The daughter of Herbert Claude and Bessie Mae (Rogers) Whitener, she was born August 16, 1958, in Maryville, TN. Both her parents predeceased her.

Betty is also predeceased by Husband, Johnny Ray Vandergriff, Sr. and two Brothers, Herbert Allen and Halbert Lee Whitener.

Remaining to cherish happy family memories are her children: Johnny Ray Vandergriff Jr, Christina Marie Parton, and Whitney Leann Leamon; siblings: Wilma Vick (Danny), Frieda Moses (Jeff), and Claude Whitener; half-siblings: John Wilhoite, Franklin Wilhoit, Patsy Nicholson, and Sally Nicholson; 11 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; bonus children: Angie Rymer, Nicholas Kaley, and John Cochran; and many nephews and nieces.

Betty's greatest joy came from spending time with family. Many of these memories were created through singing, dancing, shopping, sewing, quilting, and going to church. Betty worked with her sister in the cleaning services.

Services for Betty will be Friday, January 24, 2025, at Companion Funeral Home, Ridge Chapel. The family will greet family and friends 11:00-1:00, with the service to immediately follow in the Shelli Cody Sanctuary. She will be laid to rest with her late husband, Johnny, at McClanahan Cemetery in Birchwood, TN.
