Betty Elizabeth Bean Smith passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, she was born February 4, 1943.
Betty was one of nine siblings born and raised in Cleveland, Tennessee. She was a 1961 graduate of Bradley Central High School and attended Cleveland State Community College and Cleveland School of Business. She was employed with Magic Chef/Maytag for approximately 12 years and was the first female District Manager to go on the road in sales. She successfully achieved membership status in the Million Dollar Sales Club during her first full year.
In 1979, Betty moved to the Tri-Cities area, where she joined the real estate community and built a strong business, winning several top sales and achievement awards. Betty remained in Kingsport until 2018, when she returned to Cleveland.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Hazard Bean and Sallie Young Bean; three brothers, Charles Roy Bean, Joe Clyde Bean, and Thomas Hazard (Tommy) Bean; and one sister, Carolyn (Beany) Bean.

She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many loving family members and friends.
The family would like to thank Bradley Health Care for the kindness and loving care they extended to Betty daily since 2020. They would also like to thank the clinicians and staff at Hearth Hospice of Cleveland. The family deeply appreciates the amazing one-on-one time they took to make Betty feel as though she was at home with family. She loved all of you.
