Betty Sue Silvers

Betty Sue Varnell Silvers passed away February 24, 2026, at the age of 97. Betty was born and raised in the Silverdale community where she continued to live for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Silvers; daughters, Donna Vipond and Sharon Shafer; brother, Earl Varnell; and sisters, Sonya Smith, Barbara Fortner, and Shirley Cox; and granddaughter, Angie Barnes.

She is survived by her son, Jeff Silvers (Vickie); grandchildren, Matt Silvers (Fawn), Delisa Campbell, and Christie Cramer; 9 great-grandchildren; and sister, Sammie Sylvester.

The family will receive friends from 1:00PM until 3:00PM on Friday, February 27, 2026, at Companion Funeral Home located at 6018 John Douglass Drive in Chattanooga. A Celebration of Betty’s Life will begin at 3:00PM in the Chapel with Dr. Thomas George officiating. Betty will be laid to rest next to her late husband, Mike Silvers, in the Chattanooga National Cemetery in a private graveside service.

The family would like to thank Martin Boyd Christian Home and Chattanooga Hospice for their excellent care.

Betty will be missed by her family and friends.
