Betty Jane (Brock) Derrick, age 76, passed away peacefully at her residence in Englewood on August 14th surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 12, 1950 to the late William Henry Brock and Fannie Mae (Riden) Brock.

Betty spent most of her life working with her hands. She enjoyed driving a tractor, milking cows, cleaning houses and growing gardens. All of those things were secondary to being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother which brought her the greatest joy.

Betty is survived by her husband of 60 years, Kenneth Derrick of Englewood; children, Rita Hackler of Englewood, David (Pam) Derrick of Athens, Penny Lunsford (companion Jamie Durance) of Sweetwater, and Richard (Charlotte) Derrick of Sweetwater; 7 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many other loved family and friends.

Serving as pallbearers are David Derrick, Richard Derrick, Donnie Breedlove, John Breedlove, Lee Breedlove, and Brian Breedlove. Honorary pallbearer, Michael Derrick.

In lieu of flowers, she asked that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or other organization to benefit cancer survivors. The family wishes to express a special thank you to John Breedlove for his loving support during this difficult time.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at 7:00 pm at Companion Funeral Home of Athens. A Visitation will be held prior from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm. A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at 2:00pm at Mars Hill Cemetery in Englewood.
