Betty Jo Benson Blair, 89, a lifelong resident of Etowah, died on February 8, 2026 at Etowah Health Care. She was born to the late Ike and Minnie Benson and was a member of Brookhill Baptist Church.
Preceded in death by her husband, Archie Blair; daughter, Janice Masingale; sisters, Willie Tipton, Frankie Dodson, Nana Lou Davis, and Mary Nell Rogers; brothers, Daily and Raymond Benson; son in-law, Paul Derrick; and daughter in-law, Sharon Blair.
Survivors include daughter, Jeannette Derrick of Englewood; son, Steve (Kay) Blair of Etowah; son in-law, Roger Masingale of Englewood; two grandsons, Brian (Monica) Masingale and Brent (Carly) Masingale; two granddaughters, Kelly (Michael) Stephens and Kristin (Lee) McCormack; fourteen great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, in-laws, and other loved family and friends.
Mom's favorite saying was, "I just take 1 day at a time".
The family would like to give a special thank you to Etowah Health Care and Chattanooga Hospice for all their care during this time.
A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at Goodsprings Cemetery in Etowah, TN at 4:00pm. Her grandson, Brent Masingale will be officiating the service. Pallbearers will include Jakob McCormack, Brent Masingale, Jaxon McCormack, Brian Masingale, Kameryn McCormack and Kristin McCormack.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ronald McDonald House in Ms. Betty Jo's memory.
