Beth Ann Billey Cox, 83, passed away on July 13, 2026 in Brentwood, TN. Beth Ann was born on December 16, 1942 to George and Dorothy Billey. She was born in Mishawaka, IN and resided in Cleveland, TN, Port St. Lucie, FL, and most recently, Brentwood, TN, near her son.
Beth Ann received a Bachelor of Science degree from Bryan College in Dayton, TN in 1965 and a Masters degree in Education from Middle Tennessee State University in 1969. She taught Kindergarten and 1st grade classes In Athens and Cleveland, TN for over 30 years. Throughout her life, she held leadership positions in school enrichment programs and initiatives to benefit young children, as well as service and garden clubs. She loved the Lord and was an active member of First Baptist Church in Cleveland, TN for most of her adult years. As such, she served others and hosted events, led a GriefShare Bible Study group, and helped her husband with the coordination of the Sunday School classes he taught.
Beth Ann was married to the love of her life, Leslie R. Cox, for 48 years before his passing in 2013. Together they had two children - Janelle Beane (Jon, of Sumter, SC) and Jeremy Cox (Lee Ann, of Brentwood, TN), and three grandchildren - Anna Kate Beane, Knox Beane, and Camille Cox. Beth Ann loved her kids and grandkids and loved to read to them and dote on them. In addition to her mother and father, Beth Ann is preceded in death by her brother, Paul A. Billey, and her beloved husband, Les. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter, son, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, and 3 grandchildren.
The family will receive friends in the Chapel of Companion Funeral Home, 2415 Georgetown Road, Cleveland, TN on Friday, July 17, 2026 from 10:00-11:00 am. A funeral service will follow the visitation. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to GriefShare at griefshare.org/donate or GriefShare, PO Box 1739, Wake Forest, NC 27588-1739.
