Barbara "Bobbie" Jean Green, 89, of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at home May 19, 2026. Bobbie was born April 14, 1937.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Edith Waldrop, her sister Frances Lea, and brothers Joe and Melvin Waldrop.
She is survived by her husband David Roy Green; her children Dudley Alan Cresswell (Debbie); Joy Danielle McSpadden (Chuck), Ralph Edward "Bo" Cresswell, Jr. (Bernadette); Marc Damon Cresswell; Kevin Scott Cresswell; her sister Judy McAuley; brothers Alan and James "Jim" Waldrop; eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
In 1955 she graduated from Chattanooga Central High School, where she developed a love of sports. She became a life-long fan of the UT Lady Vols basketball team. She really loved the orange and white and had plenty of t-shirts and hats to prove it. She attended Cleveland State Community College where she earned an Associate Degree in Engineering.
She worked many different jobs to help support her family. While working at Eaton Corporation in Cleveland, she was one of the first females to become a tool and die machinist.
Bobbie and Roy were longtime members of the Cleveland Motorcycle Club. They rode on several group trips across the United States, including cross country to California then to Sturgis, ND. They also rode to New England visiting several lighthouses along the way. During one Florida trip in 2020, out of her decades of visiting Florida, she got a kick out of strolling on Daytona's Main Street during Bike Week.
Bobbie, ever the sportswoman, was quite proud to be a volunteer for the 1996 Olympics during the Ocoee River Olympics Whitewater Competition. And, to continue to live up to her fearless attitude years later, she went parasailing at Daytona Beach at age 70.
She loved to cook her family's favorite dishes, such as cheesy taters, blueberry yum yum and sweet potato casserole for Christmas Eve dinner. She also made her mother's apple stake cakes. Her recipes will continue on for all our families.
A visitation will be held from 12:00 - 2:00 with a Memorial Service to follow at 2:00PM, Saturday, June 6, 2026 at Companion Funeral Home, Ridge Chapel.
