Arthur "Chip" Kinerson, age 57, departed this life after an 10-year battle with cancer in Cleveland, Tennessee, on June 26, 2026. He was born on January 6, 1969, in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, to Donald and Nancy Kinerson.
In 1988, after graduating from Bedford-North Lawrence High School in Bedford, Indiana, Chip struck out on his own, enlisting in the United States Marine Corps to join "The Few, The Proud", where he served his country and earned his path to, first, Marshall University, where he graduated with a double major in Psychology and International Affairs, plus a minor in Spanish, and later achieved an MBA. Although his accomplishments are no small feat, what Chip was most proud of was his family.
Having read all the Danielle Steele books and having stayed glued to Hallmark Channel movies, Chip's attraction to romance overflowed into a deep love for his family. He met his wife, Kimberly (Chapman) Kinerson in 1999 and proposed to her at Kilkenny Castle in Ireland in 2001. Chip and Kim married in 2002 and have three sons: Brandon 25, Aaron 21, and Nicholas 18. Always together and always ready to prank each other, the family is known for high-spirited Halloween decorations, led by Chip's love of the holiday. In true Chicago Cubs tradition, Chip was loyal to the core. He would contact extended family for any special occasion-even if it was to remind them of something so special as "National Sunglasses Day." (That's on June 27th!) He loved to travel, and he loved to dream. He had a child-like faith that overflowed into his membership at St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church in Cleveland, Tennessee. Chip died as he lived, peacefully and surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife, his sons; his father, his mother; his sister, Patricia "Trish" Hanlon and her family, and his brother, Robert "Rob" and his family.
The funeral mass will be held at St. Therese of Liseux Catholic Church in Cleveland, TN at 11 am, Saturday, July 4, 2026.
Companion Funeral & Cremation Service and the Cody family are honored to assist the Kinerson family with these arrangements.
