Annette "Sue" Woody, age 66, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 8, 2025. A lifelong resident of the Tennessee Valley and proud member of the Gunter family, Sue was known for her warm heart, spirited personality, and deep love for her family.
Sue found joy in life's simple pleasures-gardening and working in the yard, cheering on Rhea County sports and the Alabama Crimson Tide, playing board games, and making memories with those she loved most, especially her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Gunter; her brother, Bobby Gunter; and her beloved daughter, Christy.
Left to cherish her memory are her devoted husband of 21 years, Wesley Woody; her sons, Joshua Barnes (Jennifer) and Jeremiah Barnes (Caroline); her mother, Christine Gunter; her sister, Donna Maye (Dewayne); and her brother, Charles Gunter. She is also survived by her treasured grandchildren: Westen, Jaxon, Bentley, Delaney, and Lyric; as well as nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart: Cody Gunter, Zach Maye, Nicholas "Tigger" Gunter (Crystal), Bobby Ray, Will Sherrill, Kayla Hill (Cody), Chrissy Gunter, and Patience Harris.
A celebration of Sue's life will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Corvin Road Baptist Church, with Pastor Steve James officiating a memorial service beginning at 12:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to join in honoring her memory and the love she shared so freely
You are encouraged to share a memory of Sue and/or your personal condolences with her family by visiting her memorial webpage and guestbook at http://www.companionfunerals.com. Companion Funeral & Cremation Service of Athens, TN, and the Cody family are honored to assist her family with these arrangements.
