Listen to Obituary

Anna B Dunn Buckner, affectionately referred to as "Nana" by most, age 89, of Old Fort, TN went home to be with the Lord on 01/20/26. She leaves behind a world that is a little less bright, a little less fun, but infinitely richer for having had her in it.

Nana was the definition of fun. With a quick wit and compassion for all, she made life better for those around her simply by being herself. Her unique spirit, combined with her firm foundation of faith, placed her as the center and rock of her family. She lived her faith daily-many times offering the reassuring advice of, "Let's just pray about it and let the Good Lord take care of it."

She was a beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great-grandmother, who was profoundly proud of allof her kids and grandkids. Going to Nana's house was a sanctuary where the world's worries couldn't reach you. Her hugs were a cure-all that melted the world's problems away, and her touch healed hurts that medicine couldn't find. Just her presence was enough to convince you that everything was going to be okay.

Anna B found joy in the simple things in life. She taught her family that you do not have to have money to be rich. Her wealth was found in spending time with her family doing things like sitting in the grass looking for four-leaf clovers, hunting for that perfect rock or seashell, or discovering a new flower to dig up and plant in her yard. Some of the family's most cherished memories are of impromptu picnics of bologna and cheese sandwiches, always made better with big ole fresh tomato and some hot slaw.

She was a lover of animals and eternally proud of her family. Her nurturing spirit was so powerful that even in her last days-and even in her dreams-she was still taking care of, worrying over, and loving each of her kids and grandkids.

She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Addie Susan Price Dunn Rush and Bennie Thomas Dunn. Husband, Claude Mitchell Buckner, Son, James Arie "Jimmy" Dunn. Great grand daughter, Briley-Mae Wilson, and siblings Ruth Bush, Roy Dunn, Charlie Dunn, Arie Dunn, Ralph Dunn, Mary Rush Wilson and Peggy Rush Darnell. Special friend Bill Brooks, and her loyal companion dog, Dixie.

She is survived by her loving children, Gail Tilley (Donnie), Sonya Parker (Wiley), Robin Rush (Leslie), and Scott Buckner (Kim); her adoring grandchildren, Amy Croft (Randy), Lindsay Wilson (Corey), Amber Daly (Frank), Matthew Rush (Carmen), Emily Howell (Steve), Joey Buckner (Anna), Addie Banks (Cody), Dakota (Christine) Davis; and her precious great-grandchildren, Jesse and Avery Wilson, Payton and Neyland Croft, Jack Daly, Lydia Howell, Ezra Banks, Colton, Brayden and Zoey Buckner, Violet and Jace Davis; and her special caretakers, Marlene and Earl (AKA Sonya and Wiley) with whom she spent her final days with.

Serving as Pallbearers will be her Grandsons and Great-grandsons: Matthew Rush, Joey Buckner, Jesse Wilson, Neyland Croft, Jack Daly, and Randy Croft. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be her Son, Scott Buckner, Sons-in-law, Donnie Tilley, Leslie Rush, Wiley Parker, and Grandson-in-laws, Corey Wilson, Frank Daly, Steve Howell, and Cody Banks.

We will miss her talks. We will miss her endless wit and sound advice. We will miss the way she made every single person feel special. But we are comforted in knowing that she is now walking in the most beautiful garden with our Savior.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Ball Play Baptist Church on Tuesday January 27, 2026. Visitation will be held from 12:00-4:00 pm, with a funeral service to follow at 4:00 pm with Mike Rymer officiating. She will be laid to rest at Ball Play Baptist Church Cemetery.
