Angie Lawson Goodwill, 56, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, TN quietly and painlessly stepped into Heaven on Wednesday morning, January 12, 2022. She was born in Cleveland on March 20, 1965. Angie was a member of the First Baptist Church and also attended The Mission Cleveland Parish. She was a 1983 graduate of Cleveland High School and went on to attend University of Tennessee at Knoxville and Chattanooga. Her lifelong passion was teaching children to read. Angie was a second-grade teacher and Instructional Facilitator at Blythe Bower Elementary School for 27 years. In her spare time, Angie enjoyed cooking, traveling, hiking, spending time on the lake and in nature, enjoying live music, but most of all she cherished gathering with friends and family and spending time with her beloved husband and daughter.
She is preceded in death by her father A. J. Lawson and father and mother in law Wayne & Jean Goodwill.
Angie leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving and devoted husband of 30 years David Goodwill, her daughter Lainey Goodwill of Memphis, TN, mother Cathren Duckett Lawson, one sister Shelby Lawson Bingham and her husband Jason of Roanoke, VA, sisters in law Debbie Ownby (Mervin), of Cleveland, TN, Laurie McGee (Marty) of Ringgold, GA, Brenda Campbell (Stacy) of Flowery Branch, GA, Kristen Duncan (Jack) of Cookeville, TN and Janelle Martin (Dana) of Cleveland, TN and Mary Goodwill also of Cleveland, TN. She is also survived by 43 cherished nieces and nephews, numerous other extended family members, work family and a host of special friends including her “Cabin Crew” – Paige, Wendy, Ramona, Mary and Karen.
A service celebrating her life is planned for Sunday, January 16, 2022 at 5:00 PM at the First Baptist Church located at 1275 Stuart Road NE in Cleveland, TN with Reverend Payton Cody and the Reverend Justin Ownby officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 PM until the 5:00 PM service.
